Mothers Are Like Eggs

That was the first line before I began to extend an analogy that made absolutely no sense.

The day was Mother’s Day, the setting was Pat’s Pizzeria and the audience was unfortunately for them, my immediate family.

And although my analogy was weak at its best, it reveals the truth–no analogy can explain or convey the intensity and impact of a mother.

Mothers are like…

  • superheroes
  • psychologists
  • chauffeurs
  • cooks
  • doctors
  • teachers
  • Martha Stewart
  • professional cleaners

and the list goes on.

As I pulled up to church on Mother’s Day, a family was visiting their mother in the cemetery.

As they piled out of the van with flowers and mulled over to the gravesite, I almost began to cry because I did not have to visit my mother in a cemetery.

My mother was living and breathing and beautiful.

There’s no such things as being “just a mom”.
