Invisible

People only see people who are remarkable, stand out, rebelling, loud, taking a stand, names are in lights, inspirational, different, beautiful, amazing, outstanding, and just right out crazy.

What happens to those who are not really seen in life?

What makes one person more visible than another?

These questions have been floating around in my mind for the past 24 hours. Our life as we know it has changed forever and what was is no longer.

In one moment we can go from invisible to visible. People who would never stop to speak with you or acknowledge you begin to take notice of you.

At first its awkward and uncomfortable, because once you were no one; yet the moment of extraordinary took place and erased the invisible out of your life.

People begin to speak, acknowledge you and even want to share personal things with you in this place of new sight.

In my mind I wondered, “would you speak to me if you knew my weakness, or my failures?”

Those who are called out of the invisible may sense that is what their life is suppose to be like, but then there are those who want to be great but keep the attention to a minimum.

I was asked one day, “are you coming from somewhere or going somewhere you are so dressed up?” I chuckled inside because I was wearing jeans and a jacket. I saw her watching me as I gathered my things and paid for my salad. I had no idea that the thoughts she had was about my outfit. I explained I was just out doing errands and dress like this most days. I love fashion and on my worst day I leave home looking fierce rather than frumpy!

Being stared down is not new to me. When it first started to happen I was self conscious and uncomfortable. I wanted to be invisible and just do me, but there were things about my life that made others inquisitive. Looking back I now realize it was my difference that stood out that caused me to be seen when invisible was my choice.

Life exposes those who are extreme for good or bad; those who are different or make choices outside the box.

Hmmm I guess I am answering my question now about what makes one person invisible and another visible. It all comes to choices either good ones or poor ones.

Society pays attention to different, unusual, amazing, talented, weird, crazy, bravery, artistic, intelligent, and just plain old abnormal!!

No matter who you are, you will be in one category or the other; either invisible or visible.

Some of us go through life avoiding drama, crowds and attention to ourself. Others love attention, drama and confrontation!

Then there are those moments that shift your life from hidden to exposed.

  1. I liked this post. It encourages you to be your true self-however bold or meek that may make you appear (or disappear) to others.
