No one is more important than you in your life.
Make sure you are showing up for yourself “BIG”
For years I struggled with sticking to my self care routine because of wrong thinking. I believed everyone came before me and that is how I lived my life for twenty years. I was last on the list. I was willing to sacrifice myself at the expense of showing up for others.
Over the last decade and a half I cultivated a self care routine that produced harmony and ease in my life. Whenever we start something new it may feel uncomfortable and challenging, the key is to not quit.
If you find yourself wrestling with guilt when you choose yourself, I want you to know it is normal. Yes, I said normal! Guilt is an emotional response when the journey to self care begins. Flip the guilt around and use it as positive not negative. Use the guilt as an indicator that reminds you to not overlook yourself but become more intentional. The more you practice self care the less guilt you will feel. The feelings of making the right decisions will be more prominent, and you will be happier.
When we engage in a self care routine we manage stress better, reduce or eliminate anxiety and our self esteem gets a boost.
Here are several tips to jumpstart your routine:
- Drink water first thing in the morning instead of coffee to hydrate and wake our brain up.
- Write out 3-5 things in your day that you are grateful for (even on off days there is something you can find).
- Create a menu: think about how you want to fuel your body and avoid impulse eating because life does happen.
- Do a mini dance party: this is a moment of fun (one of my favs to do daily).
- Be intentional to move at least 30 minutes daily (break it up if you have to).
- Go to bed and get the adequate amount of sleep you need to refresh, rid your brain of toxins and consolidate your memory.
- Confront negative thoughts, lies negative self talk and combat them with truth, and who you are.
You can add more to this list as you build your routine this week. Share with me what you added or if you have a list already what do you do not listed?
The blueprint to the life you want is locked inside of you.
