What action are you taking?

Anyone who knows me well knows I love leadership because it is all about serving others. Leaders make other leaders, not followers. The more value we add to a person, the more influence we have.

Today while I was working I thought about my own experience as a parent and the concept of not doing as I say but doing as I do. Without saying a lot of things my children were influenced by me in the good and not so good. I am happy to say the good outweighed the not so good.

Being a leader is a huge responsibility that no one should take lightly. How we lead affects another person. Leadership begins with us first. In this season of new challenges and opportunities I have reviewed my leadership style and asked myself how does it look leading now? I realize that everyone has changed( including me), and the world has changed. I can pull on my past experiences but I cannot get locked into the old way of leading.

For example, most people are still adjusting to new norms, working through emotional challenges, as well as fear. As a leader it’s important to assess what the needs are now and serve them that way. The goal is to show them I care, assist them in creating a safe space to connect with others (community is really important) and support however I can.

I want to share with you my top seven questions I ask myself in leadership for this new year.

  1. Are you emotionally stable to lead others?
  2. What knowledge have you acquired to share with those you serve?
  3. Are you still growing or stuck?
  4. Who are the people you should serve now?
  5. Did you add value to anyone today?
  6. Have you been investing in yourself to give from a place of full not half empty?
  7. Are you prepared for the weight of leadership in the new season?

Personally I ask myself more questions but these are my top ones. I want to show up for others with passion, purpose and direction.

Our life is not about what we gather, but how much we sow into others from what have.

Today become intentional to serve one person outside of your family in a small way, it will brighten your day.

Stay safe.
