It is always a good time to have more money. I certainly want my bank account to be filled with loads of cash that does not go to bills.
Have you started a financial plan yet or still winging it?
Just like everthing else in life we want to accomplish there must be a vision with a written plan.
Before I keep going, let me state for the record I am not an expert in finances or a counselor. This blog is about sharing life’s principals I learn with you that perhaps will be an answer or key to unlock things in your life.
I did not grow up with insight into finances, or how to multiply money, I was taught the basics or foundation for which I am grateful.
Everyone must begin with a foundation to reach their financial goals. I want to share some baby steps you can take to become financially free if you put in the commitment to learn, apply and grow.
Step #1 (Assuming you are working or have your own business that provides an income)
Education: Watch videos if you don’t like to read. Read books, blogs, and other resources. Listen to a Podcast about finances. Speak with your banker or a financial advisor. Get to know how your personality views money (your relationship with money).
Step #2
Write down your goals: In order to accomplish what you want, you must create a direction that takes you to the destination.
Step #3
Track your habits: Keep a journal or write down everything you spend your money on in a week. Check your bank records for purchases.
Step #4
Create a budget: A budget is a plan you create that processes how you will spend your money. Most of us dislike accountability because it is my money and I should have the right to do what I want with it. Then some of us are not ready to face the truth so we avoid a budget. You can write a budget out using pen and paper or using an app.
If you don’t know where to begin here are some links to resources.
Step #5
Accountability: Speak with someone who is experienced or knowledgeable about what your goals are that can keep you on track. Share with a family member or friend that will keep you responsible to reaching your goals.
Step #6
Think Future: Enjoy the journey. Guard yourself against those who will criticize your goals and try to manipulate you into making wrong decisions. You have the power to create a stable tomorrow for yourself financially.
Step #7
Stay Positive: It may take a moment to get to where you desire. Just keep taking baby steps.
Happy Financial Planning!
