This year I have read blogs and books on leadership, growing your business, and mindsets.
There were some things I read that surprised me because all my life I was told they were negative.
Here is the first fact I read that had me looking over my whole life.
But fear can also have an upside, says Dr. Katherine Brownlowe, inpatient medical director and neuropsychiatrist at the Ohio State University’s Harding Hospital. Humans and other animals feel fear, which for centuries has served as a protective mechanism. “It basically keeps you from dying,” Brownlowe says. “If there’s a threat in your environment that could put you or your family in danger, it’s important to be able to assess it quickly. When you hear or see something that could be dangerous, our brains and bodies have an immediate fear response. You have a heightened sense of awareness of your surroundings, your heart starts to beat faster, your pulse quickens and your blood races toward your muscles.”
You read it correctly, FEAR can be good. This was my face after reading about the same information more than once.
I know what you are thinking; yes you were right about so many things others tried to say you were being dramatic about.
We are wired to know certain things that are dangerous or life-threatening.
You were not being negative at that moment but listening to your inner protective mechanism.
Not sure about you but it felt amazing to know I was not weird, or crazy just in tune with my surroundings and life.
Today I want to sound the alarm and let others know “LISTEN to your inner voice and act with sensibility, not negativity ”
I began to think of all the situations we could avoid or opportunities we would have taken if someone taught fear properly.
To be clear, there is a fear that sucks the life out of you and won’t allow you to function or accomplish things, I am not talking about that terror called fear.
One of my greatest fears was dying without doing my full purpose.
If I said the word fear to some people they would stop breathing.
The anxiety of not releasing what is in me ignited me to make healthy choices towards my future.
Once you can identify what kind of trepidation you are experiencing make the right decisions to act accordingly.
When you feel the urge to switch over to another sidewalk when walking go for it.
That trip you want to take but fear no one will go with you, go without them.
Stop holding back living to the fullest because you experience uneasiness, take the leap and discover a world of wonder!
Share with me what was one thing you were afraid of that you decided to do?
Happy Thursday:)
