Mature woman

Maturity for me is being fully responsible for your actions and owning your wrongs.

Being knowledgeable is not about age only.

It takes time to develop and become a full-time adult.

Now that I am grown I realize the weight of my words, actions, and decisions.

Passing the blame to others for our inability to make healthy choices appears easier to do.

Let me share what the process of maturity taught me:

  1. No one can make us do anything, it is our choice.
  2. The same way we take credit for the success we must also take responsibility for failure.
  3. Blaming others for what we do not know is childish and reflects our need to be the victim.
  4. Taking charge of changes, growth and your personal development is all on you.
  5. Justifying the wrong behavior says you want to stay the same and others should accept it.
  6. Happiness is your duty and not someone else’s.
  7.  You have the ability to build, own, and become established by creating opportunities rather than waiting for a handout.
  8.  Apologize when you are wrong, and accept apologies from others when they wrong you.
  9. Discipline your emotions.
  10. Patience is really a virtue we must keep as we grow older.

There are so many other points of maturity I could share.

What does maturity look like to you?

  1. This is an excellent list! Disciplining my emotions is one that I’m still working on. In the last few years I have been focusing on me being in control of my happiness instead of looking to other people to make me happy. I am learning alot more about myself and what I truly want for my life. I am also learning that a part of maturity is knowing that I am capable of so much more!
