Triggers

It has become so clear to me over the years that certain experiences may leave us vulnerable.

Traumatic moments in life leave what I call a residue that is not always seen.

All it may take for some is a word, sound or smell to relive an incident.

Triggers activate our emotions from past distressing or disturbing experiences.

Without a warning, we can find our self reacting to a past injury, wound or damage.

It feels real.

As if it is taking place for the first time.

You relive the episode from a memory that stirs your emotions.

The triggers must be identified if you are going to grow past the damage it created.

What prompts one person may not prompt another.

Some may need to seek professional help.

My advice is to do all you can to become healthy and better.

People may say get over it already because they get tired hearing you talk about it.

Be determined to deal with the past so you can have a prosperous future.

Remember your life is important and only you can make it whole.
