WHAT IF, those two simple words bring with them such great influence and power in our life. Most of us either take the risk after asking ourself the question”what if” or we simply back away and play it safe.
“What IF?” How many moments in our life have we allowed ourselves to stand still while these two words either provoked us to do better or paralyzed us in time? I am reminded that questions are good to ask, but we must pay attention to the answers. In the mist of great decision making these two words present us with scenarios that we play out in two categories. One of the categories will be our pros or as I like to call it, benefits. The other category would be our cons or drawbacks or damage this may bring into my life. Considering how we process the answers may sound good or bad.
Whenever we move out of our comfortable places the strong voice of “What IF?” begins to speak, trying to bring fear and apprehension into the equation of change. We will never know some outcomes if we do not move. A person may decide to quit their job as an employee and pursue their passion by starting their own business. A person who changes career will not be exempt from the question, but it is more important that they know the answers that will benefit them. Some things in life will not make sense when we begin to look deep into them but the benefits will show up immediately. The person may begin their business and have to down size in living and even sell their expensive vehicles to make things work. But the benefit may manifest in their health, peace and even being happy. We can not allow our self to get stuck in one track thinking and miss the good things that are going on.
You may be wondering about the other category we shared earlier that reveals drawbacks or damage that a certain decision may bring. Although some things are apparent when making decisions, there are some details we may miss. For instance, a person experiencing frustration on their job who decides to quick as a solution to the problem will always run you into a full circle to do it again the right way. What If that job was building your character and preparing you for a greater future but you quit premature?
For those who have been on both sides of the question What If? we can attest that we have experience both the benefits and sacrifices.
